    Position Description:

    As “Directors of First Impressions” our Information Specialists play a critical role presenting a corporate level of service excellence to our English and multilingual customers.
    The Information Specialist is responsible for coordinating and executing a broad range of customer service activities for our primary customer, the York and Durham Region Welcome Centres as well as other customers demonstrating multi-language needs. Their tasks include receiving and responding to general and escalated customer inquiries; appointment setting; assisting in the preparation/production of call centre statistical reports/analysis and development of customer service standards; providing other administrative duties and ensuring a safe working environment.

    Successful candidate will possess the following attributes:

    • Excellent Communication skills in English and Arabic
    • Able to multi-task and use multiple sources to search and gather needed information
    • Have culture-sensitive experience with Interpretations
    • Highly organized, self-motivated, attentive to details
    • Able to work  in a company  with standards of confidentiality, non-harassment and other Policies
    • Advanced Computer User with strong administrative skills

    Terms Of Employment: Contract employment 12 month term (Maternity Leave replacement)
    Location: Primarily – Established Home Office, Occasionally required to work from Head Office in Newmarket     
    Scheduled workweekStarts Nov 15, 2017. Pre-determined block Monday-Friday within 8:30-4:30, up to 30 hours a week
    Compensation: $15/hour

    Mandatory Requirements:

    Education:  Post-secondary diploma or degree in Communication, Social Studies or a related field
    Technical Skills: Intermediate knowledge of MS Office, advanced PC user
    Related Experience:  Minimum 2 years customer service or contact centre experience.
    Certification: Community Interpreter Certificate (CILISAT, ILSAT, RBI or equivalent) must be obtained within 6 months of employment
    Other:   Clean Vulnerable Sector Screen, Isolated Home Office Space, Computer, Headset
    Equipment:  Newer PC with minimum Windows 7 and MS Office 2007 with Outlook and High Speed Internet

    Terms of Employment: Contract until March 31, 2018. Renewal dependent on continued funding and suitable performance.   
    Location: Primarily – Established Home Office, occasionally required to work from Head Office in Newmarket
